WELCOME

I create paintings that evoke a sense of vitality, connection to, and beauty of, the natural world. Walking and taking in my surroundings is at the heart of my work - how it makes me breathe that bit deeper, lifts my spirit and returns me to a place of inner balance.

I experience so much joy working in the pages of my sketchbook - ideas develop from my feelings, observations and atmosphere of the landscape - its unique flora, or the bank of clouds rolling in across the sea, to the movement of Marram grass in the dunes. I am often entranced by the shapes, contours and light.

As an intuitive journey, every page is an opportunity to explore more deeply with a variety of media, refining the compositions, daring to try new art materials that invite greater play and possibility in my work.

When I move onto canvas or cradle panel I love to give myself the option of a series - different sizes and materials allow a freshness and freedom - space to play, discover and bring a joyful, instinctive approach to the paintings. Having more than one painting means I get to try out ideas, push and pull the techniques, brushwork and colour palette. Each original painting evolves alongside others and develops its own distinct personality.
